Part-Time Support Worker 2(Job #: 030 - 280425)

Compensation:  $25.02 / hour plus vacation pay; 2.5% in lieu of benefits & Health Care Spending Account after a waiting period of three months

Location: Strathroy, ON

Schedule: 16-31 per week; varied overnight shifts including weekends and public holidays

 Summary of Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Working overnight with children/youth/adults, including participants with medical, mental health, developmental, communication and other needs to develop daily living skills that support community integration/engagement

  • 30% or more of time spent in tasks such as cleaning, general maintenance, and cooking and/or meal prep

  • Support person-centred programs that ensure the daily needs of participants are met (medical administration, teaching life skills, facilitating groups, activities of daily living, responding to urgent situation, transportation, accompanying participants to offsite activities and general administration)

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for participants; remain calm and focused in crisis situations while utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills

  • Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Human, Community, and/or Social Services (e.g., CYW, SSW, DSW)

  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience providing support to people requiring varying levels of behaviourial interventions; knowledge of concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses and strategies for support

  • Reliable with a demonstrated commitment to being a dependable member of a team

  • Understanding of support requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job

  • Proficiency in both verbal and written communication

  • Strong leadership, mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail, ability to carry up to 30lbs

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the team, and independently as necessary

  • Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional, and personal boundaries

  • Multilingualism and having diverse lived experiences are considered assets

  • Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record (mandatory)

  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check and Broad Record Check with Humana listed as the employer (mandatory)

  • Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunizations, COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position (mandatory)
