Compensation:  $31.64/hour

Location: Parkhill, ON

Schedule: 32+ scheduled hours per week; varied shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays

 Summary of Roles & Responsibilities:

  • This position involves coordinating the day-to-day operations and support of a short-term live-in treatment setting, working with youth

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for participants; remain calm and focused in crisis situations while utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills

  • Ensure that the individual needs of people are met on a daily basis (medical, personal, physical, financial, hygienic, social, recreational, emotional, developmental) in compliance with legislated requirements and company policies and procedures

  • Conduct intake screening interviews, tours, assessments, admissions, and orientation of new youth on site as required

  • Share responsibility with the Program Supervisor for the care and maintenance of the property including, submitting requests and monitoring repairs/preventative tasks

  • Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice 

Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education in Community, and/or Social Services (e.g., DSW, SSW, CYC, Social Sciences, BSW, Police Foundations).

Please Note: Personal Support Worker (PSW) certifications do not meet the educational requirements for this position.

  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support; knowledge of concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses and strategies for support

  • Demonstrated understanding of requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job.

  • Strong rapport-building, mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team (internal and external), and independently as necessary.

  • Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional, and personal boundaries.

  • Multilingualism and having diverse lived experiences are considered assets.

 Requirements:

  • Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record 

  • Satisfactory current (within the last 6 months) Police Vulnerable Sector Check 

  • Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunizations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position 

  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred
